Xpert Spotlight: Lukasz Zelezny

Lukasz Zelezny is the head of organic acquisition at uSwitch.com, a UK based price comparison website with offices in London. Previous to that, he was responsible for the organic performance of a number of companies including HomeAway, Thomson Reuters, The Digital Property Group and Fleetway Travel. He is a graduate from the Silesian University of Technology with a BA in Marketing.

As an expert who helps people learn SEO, Zelezny is offering Zeqrs an opportunity to learn exactly what search engines are looking for to help increase their digital presence. He has worked in SEO for 17 years, enabling him to gather inside knowledge in an industry that is forever changing, and help others learn SEO and all the growth hacks accompanying it. Not only does he know what businesses need to say to gain an online following, he knows what to avoid too.

Zelezny comments: “It is this experience that I want to share with others. You really would be surprised by how many people are still not performing SEO properly and are, therefore, putting their websites in jeopardy.”

Zelezny also shared insight into how he has built his own personal social following on social media, where his Twitter account boasts nearly 50k followers:

“The main social networks that I am active on are Twitter and LinkedIn. If you look at my profiles on either of these sites you will see that I have optimised them for keywords related to my work and the types of things I share. I have also built backlinks to these articles for the keywords I want to be found for.”

“I also ensure I regularly talk and interact with people, I share interesting articles and developments from the industry, and I am not afraid to re-share anything that I find interesting.”

While learning SEO, the most important thing to keep an eye on is keyword research. It’s pretty much the one thing that does not depend on Google’s algorithm updates, nor will it ever.

Keyword research has always been consistent for all marketers looking for ways to optimize their websites for search engines. One thing does change from time to time, and that’s how you do it.

If you’re new to the term and looking to learn SEO, you ought to know that keyword research is a method marketers and founders use to find the most relatable keywords that ordinary Internet users search for. Knowing these keywords or search terms helps a lot in terms of informing people in charge of content writing, and it can shift the entire marketing strategy.

Zelezny is also an experienced public speaker, travelling all over the world to speak at events in destinations including Malta, Poland, Germany, China, and the Czech Republic. He cites this as one of his career highlights as he relishes the chance to share his knowledge and expertise with others in the industry and help them learn SEO to full extent.

Xpert Spotlight: Tayo Rockson

The answer to the popular question “how to be a leader” is quite simple. You achieve it by getting things done.

On the other hand, inclusive leaders are people who have some traits common to every one of them. They help promote diversity among people in their teams, and they allow for more innovation, as well. As a leader, how many of these leader-like traits do you believe you have?

A Deloitte Australia study which included inclusive leaders from Australia, parts of Asia, and North America shows that a leader is known for possessing six fundamental traits which create team diversity. Managers with these traits are always more engaged in their work, they are effective with every culturally diversified stakeholder, and they also allow access to a broad spectrum of ideas and perspectives to all other leaders, which improves their decision-making process, allowing for better innovation and future anticipation.

There is no CIO that doesn’t want to develop in those areas, to be honest. The approaches inclusive leaders use are various, depending on their culture, but Tayo Rockson, a famous Zeqr specialist on being an inclusive leader agrees that six characteristics can easily suggest how to be a leader, as well as what makes up every inclusive leader’s framework:

  • Commitment
  • Courage
  • Cognizance of bias
  • Curiosity
  • Cultural intelligence
  • Collaborativeness

Tayo Rockson is a cross-cultural expert, speaker and activist committed to helping individuals and organisations become more culturally aware. His work has been featured in both Forbes and Entrepreneur magazine as well as many other renowned publications.

For him, commitment and courage are by far the most important aspects of being a leader.  In addition to a belief in the business case, leaders are driven by their values, including a deep-seated sense of fairness that, for some, is rooted in personal experience. Inclusive leaders believe creating a welcoming culture begins with them, and they possess a strong sense of personal responsibility for change. When executives devote time, energy, and resources to nurturing inclusive workforces — by investing in people and inspiring others to share their passion and goals — their actions signal a true commitment.

Inclusive leaders demonstrate courage in two ways. First, they aren’t afraid to challenge entrenched organizational attitudes and practices that yield homogeneity, even if their recommendations are politically or culturally unpopular. Nor are they afraid to display humility by acknowledging their personal limitations and seeking contributions from others to overcome them. Some leaders find it difficult to admit they don’t have all the answers; in that respect, courage and humility go hand in hand.

Rockson is offering a handful of free classes, providing Zeqrs with advice on how individuals can build their cultural competency levels to become global leaders, incorporating globalisation into their business strategies. He believes that global leadership is more important than it has ever been and that people cannot lead, motivate and inspire their colleagues if they’re not able to create inclusive environments. Inclusive leaders like Tayo understand that, for collaboration to be successful, team members need to share their perspectives.

To that end, they create an environment in which all individuals feel empowered to express their opinions freely with the group.

They also realize that diversity of thinking is critical to effective collaboration; thus, they pay close attention to team composition and team processes. For example, they prevent teams from breaking into subgroups, which can weaken relationships and create conflict.

They also adopt a sense of “one team” by creating a group identity and shared goals, and by working to ensure team members understand and value each other’s knowledge and capabilities.

Rockson commented: “I’m going to be sharing my expert knowledge on how to be an inclusive leader in the 21st century. So why is this so important? Given the impact of globalisation and digitalisation, we come across different cultures on a daily basis. I can help you leverage these differences, enabling people to use their individual talents to both their advantage and yours, ultimately increasing your bottom line.”

Xpert Spotlight: Dave Taylor

Dave Taylor is an entrepreneur, author and internationally respected technology and marketing specialist. As one of Zeqr’s Xperts and a superb digital marketing consultant, Taylor is offering Zeqrs advice on communicating key messages for their business or product effectively through the marketing tools available to them.

Whether it’s Twitter, Instagram, Facebook or even an email marketing campaign, Dave’s expertise in digital media and social marketing will equip Zeqrs with all the knowledge they need for their project to be a success.

In the business-to-business world, social media marketing used to be an innovate way to boost your reputation. Unfortunately, it’s no longer just that. It’s also an essence that helps your business survive the massively competitive market. A well known fact is that almost 95% of B2B marketers can’t imagine working without social media as their number one method of driving sales. And any digital marketing consultant can confirm that.

Long live content marketing!

Long ago, social media was nothing more than a “pretty decent” marketing channel because ever since its inception, it’s been having a very decent informal nature. The one thing that everybody does nowadays is establishing social presence via all famous social networks.

Planning your social media messaging is definitely helpful for both B2B and B2C marketers, but what those pages lack these days is creativity. It’s important to have the content tailored to the audience you picked, no matter what your business is about.

We asked Taylor how his expertise in the digital marketing consultant field would help curious Zeqrs.

He responded with “What I can help you with is figuring out what your company needs and figuring out exactly how to make that mix work, how to measure things and how to get marketable, achievable and really great results. Whatever credentials you’re looking for, I probably already have them.”

With a Masters degree in Education and an MBA in Business Administration, Taylor’s expertise lies in not just understanding the complex technologies that underpin our modern world, but in explaining it all clearly and coherently.

We all know that digital consultants are people who know everything and anything digital. The second your computer is up and running, you enter the online world of email, social media, advertisements, and everything else that can be accessed by a smartphone, keyboard, or mouse. That there is pretty much the digital consultant’s playground.

Think of the consultant as the quarterback of the digital team. He or she must know all of the positions well enough to direct them. SEO is just one of the many important positions an average digital marketing consultant covers.

As someone who puts the success of others first, Taylor is offering sessions to Zeqrs who show interest in his class and explain why they would benefit from a digital marketing consultant. Xpert Spotlight: Bobby Umar

The Xpert Spotlight blog is here to update Zeqrs on the latest and greatest opportunities to engage with leading Xperts from across the world.

This week the spotlight falls on Bobby Umar, a 4x TEDx speaker, coach, author and leadership influencer. Named by Inc Magazine as one of the Top 100 Leadership Speakers in the world, alongside such noteworthy giants as Richard Branson and Brene Brown, Umar is offering Zeqrs invaluable knowledge in the field of career development.

Umar, who has trained thousands of new speakers, is hosting classes advising Zeqrs ‘How to Land the First TEDx Talk’. His exclusive classes will provide comprehensive details, strategies and tactics on how to land a TEDx talk.

Umar commented, “In today’s knowledge economy, we greatly value thought leadership and leaders who are an expert or authority in their field. This is why I use Zeqr, to share my expertise, to enhance my brand and to build awareness around what I can do for my tribe. If I can help people who feel stuck, lost or unclear on their path, I will achieve my purpose and create joy and fulfillment everywhere.”

“There’s no experience like securing, and of course, delivering your first TEDx Talk. It’s something I was incredibly proud of at the time and have continued to relish as I expanded my own TEDx portfolio. I’m looking forward to sharing my experience and expertise with Zeqrs from across the world to inspire their own TEDx journey.”

So What Are The Truths And Misconceptions On Landing TEDx Talks?

Most famous speakers focus on their speaking ability rather than their idea. Although you need to be a good communicator for people to understand your idea, good speaking only helps if you have an idea the organizers are interested in. People don’t read books because the author is great at typing and using grammar correctly – they want the message that the author communicates. Many speakers are inexperienced speakers, but they have great ideas (after all, TED’s tagline is “Ideas Worth Spreading” not “people that are great speakers”).

TED maintains a directory of TEDx events happening in the next year. Keep this page bookmarked so you never miss out on an opportunity to land a TEDx talk.

Those with misconceptions think all TEDx events are run by TED employees (or expect them to all be the exact same thing). The truth is, those events have different organizers, all of which are actually volunteers, not necessarily employed in the company. This means applying to one doesn’t harm (or help) your chances at any other event, and applying on the official website will not allow you to be considered for any TEDx event, meaning you won’t have a good time trying to land a TEDx talk. Furthermore, each of those events will have different videography teams and the quality of the production varies drastically.

Last, but not least, you need to keep in mind that many speakers work hard on getting feedback on their entire talk and making sure it’s amazing. TEDx events can get hundreds of submissions, so the administration is not always able to review everyone’s entire talk (and most speakers don’t even send over their talk).

How Do You Land A TEDx Talk, Then?

Instead, the event organizers will often make a decision whether to move on with a speaker based on a brief concept, so it makes sense to test and refine this so you have a rejection-proof pitch. Long story short, create a brief concept of what you want to talk about and shorten your biography section. The competition is your toughest obstacle.

Use Learning Videos To Engage More Students

In the last 30 years, as technology drastically evolved and became a hit all over the world, learning videos have become one of the fastest growing fields in education. More and more teachers are using learning videos in order to make their classes more interesting for students, and thereby, make learning easier for students of all age groups.

Recent educational research says that the learning videos are often used as dynamic resource for supporting curricula, used by 94% of classroom teachers, and up to three times a week!

Apart from schools and other traditional learning institutions, many companies and franchises are using learning videos, in order to engage their employees into the business protocol, and train them to be better laborers and leaders.

Benefits of learning videos

The main goal tutors and teachers should have is to keep people engaged, interested, and active in the their classes.

Learning videos represent a compelling instructional tool that helps generate much greater amount of interest and enjoyment within learners, than traditional printed material.
Using learner’s sight and sound, learning videos encourage people to use their creativity, which automatically leaves the learner more engaged and interested in the class.

Video content stimulates and engages students, helping create interest and maintaining it for longer periods of time. It also provides an innovative and effective way for educators to address and deliver the required curriculum content.

Learning videos are also perfect fit for students who are auditory or visual learners.
With the possibility of adding subtitles, even children have the opportunity to watch, listen, or read each presentation.

Learning videos and e-learning

As we mentioned the role and importance of learning videos in traditional learning methods, they deserve a special spot in the new approach to learning, as well.

Since the market for learning videos has become extraordinarily massive, more and more entrepreneurs and companies have started the trend of e-learning, in order to follow the innovative model of learning, which impersonates the revolution of traditional education.

Following the latest trends, and ensuring the best quality to the outside world, we created a global knowledge sharing platform, which relies on learning videos as it’s primary tool for education.

As we tried to present the importance of learning videos in the academic world, here are some tips and advices on creating a learning video, in order for you to boost your teaching strategies, and start engaging more people to your classes:

Creating a learning video

Creating a learning video to accompany your Xpert profile is vital when it comes to providing an insight about your background, skills and personality.

Although filming video content can feel daunting, here are some top tips to create a quality film that showcases your talents and encourages learners to sign up to your classes.

Setting up the following things is crucial and beneficial:

  • Camera and lighting: Whilst a HD camera is an advantage, it’s not a necessity.
Most modern smartphones or computer webcams are more than sufficient.
To enhance the quality of your video choose your lighting wisely. If possible, take advantage of natural light by sitting near (but not in front of) a window or place a lamp behind the camera pointing towards you. For professional looking content, aim to position your camera on a table in front of you, rather than holding from a ‘selfie’ perspective.
  • Background: A blank background (i.e. against a plain white wall) is recommended, or choose somewhere that relates to your class. For example, if you are offering fitness advice why not ask permission to film inside your local gym?
  • Clothing: Avoid wearing anything with patterns such as close stripes, checks, tweeds or herringbone, all of which tend to distort on camera. Solid coloured clothes in shades such as navy, grey, cream and brown are safer options which will look better on screen.
  • Practice makes perfect: Last but not least, make sure you practice what you are going to say before filming. Rehearsing in front of a mirror or with test recordings will help you control your speed, body language and facial expressions. If necessary, write a rough script and use this as a basis. However, be careful not to learn it to heart and end up reciting it word for word. You want to sound warm and natural.

Start Engaging Students With This Easy Guide

If you’ve ever had the experience to work as a teacher in a school, or even if you know someone with a similar job, you know how difficult engaging students can get.

Some of the biggest concerns of most teachers and professors include the structure of the class, as well as the atmosphere they need to create in order to get the most out of each class.

In order to start engaging students and creating a more compelling and interactive class, tutors use a lot of different approaches to do so.

However, thousands, if not millions of teachers and professors still struggle when it comes to engaging and motivating students for the sake of making learning fun.

Although online learning platforms don’t have the traditional classrooms and learning approaches, teachers on multiple e-learning websites still find it challenging to create and structure an engaging class. This resulting in an increasing need for e-learning to become a thing.

Luckily, there are multiple strategies to engage your students in order to help you get the most out of your class. They apply for both school or university teachers, as well as e-learning teachers working as freelancers!

Here are some pointers on how to create a compelling class on our e-learning platform, and start engaging students, as soon as possible!

Excel in your Expertise

For each class you create, you have to ensure that the topic you are teaching about is something you truly are an expert at. That will empower you to present the topic confidently and effectively, which will be your first step in drawing attention, and engaging students.

When creating a class on our e-learning platform, ensure you sell your expertise to learners by outlining your background, experience, and knowledge via your profile page, the Class Description page, and by uploading an introductory video which tells Zeqrs what it is they’ll be teaching with you. Engaging students with video content is one of the very best methods, so that’s why we always encourage creating classes with videos that help describe them.

In order to start engaging students to your class, it is important that you include as many relevant details about your class as possible.

On Zeqr, those details help our curious learners understand exactly what knowledge they’ll gain by taking part in your class.

Try to structure your class like this:

  • Class Title: The title should clearly explain what the overall topic is, in a short and precise way.  Some good examples include: “How to Write a Press Release”, “Turn a Blog into a Business”, “Basics of Accounting”, and “Introduction to Social Media”.
  • Class Description: This is where you can further detail what your class will offer and exactly what new knowledge, information, or skill the learner will pick up taking part in your class. Every teacher should structure their class around explaining how the student will benefit from taking the class, in order to start engaging students more often.
  • Class Video: This is another way to entice students. The video should be the rooftop of the class description, reaffirming and covering the focus of the class. The video should also give learners more understanding of your personality, background, and unique selling points.
  • Advanced Options: You have the opportunity to include Materials and Training Files. This means you can provide your students with study guides, slide notes, worksheets, and other tools in order to have more engaging students. These are ideal ways to provide a more concrete idea of what the class will be beyond the short description and video.
  • Level of Expertise: Be honest about your experience. Try to explain and justify the price, and skill your are offering to your learners.

The more flexible you are, the more likely you are to attract more students and learners. Not everyone is available at the exact same time, because as a global e-learning platform, we strive to connect everyone around the world.

On Zeqr, you can increase your flexibility in two different ways:

  • via the individual classes, or
  • the Availability Settings on your Profile.

You can learn more about how to set your availability and so much more by reading our FAQs.

Whether you are creating a class on our knowledge sharing platform, or just trying to have more engaging students in your own classes, there are multiple activities and strategies which you can implement to start engaging students and boost your teaching skills!

Just remember to be creative and plan ahead, and your classes will attract more attention in no time!
