Born in Kansas City in 1970 Chuck Ärlund showed an interest in drawing from a very early age. Often playing the game Masterpiece with his grandmother and taking after school art classes during grade school. It was not until his sophomore year in high school that he would consider a camera as a tool for art. His girlfriends father had suggested taking photos rather than trying to realistically draw the pages of fashion magazines.
In 1988 Chuck graduated from high school he went straight to the nationally acclaimed art college, KCAI where he promptly dropped out and join a rock band. For the next five years Chuck played rock star, while trying to secure a record deal. During this time he took multiple photographer classes from a local college and soon became a photographer for many of the bands that he played with.
Chuck went back to college in 1994 at MTSU because of his love of music and recording after playing in various rock bands. Graduating in 1998 with a BS in Mass Communications he went on to become a commercial photographer after college. In 2002, Chuck opened his own business as a profesional photographer, where he became an international award winning photographer and educator.
Since 2007, Chuck has been teaching college as an adjunct professor and a professional educator to photographers worldwide at imaging conventions, schools and workshops.
